Academics

Mingus Union High School has a wide selection of course and elective offerings to meet the academic abilities of all students. We’re serious about making sure our students are prepared for life outside these walls. And with an average of $1.6 million in scholarships awarded each year, MUHS students have proven worthy of the challenge.

Advanced Placement

Upon teacher recommendation, students have the opportunity to enroll in Advanced Placement (AP) courses. AP courses follow a rigorous curriculum developed to prepare students to test at the end of the course for college credit. Students enrolled in English/Literature AP courses must complete the required reading and writing assignments the summer prior to taking the course.

AP course offerings:

  • Studio Art
  • Art History
  • Calculus
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • English Literature & Composition
  • Language & Composition
  • U.S. History
  • World History
  • Psychology

Dual Enrollment

Students taking dual enrollment courses earn college credit simultaneously with high school credit. Students learn from instructors holding college level credentials and gain experience working through the application and enrollment process and exposure to the academic rigors imposed at the college level.
